We wanted a special wedding reception for twenty five adults and ten children. Andrew and Mandy’s attention to detail and flair for making people feel special made it an absolutely magical evening. They even let us bring along an entertainer to keep the children happy. The meal was magnificent and the service spot on. They took the time to sit down with us and ask what we wanted and how they could arrange this for us. The Riverside is a truely exceptional restaurant and made our wedding truely a day to remember.

We had booked a birthday celebration for the 8 of us and could not have celebrated in better fashion. The food was superb, the service was attentive but most of all the atmosphere was brilliant! Andrew was the perfect host ensuring we were never left wanting.

The food was worth every penny, incredible value for money and served at just the right pace. We were all made to feel incredibly welcome from start to finish and left the restaurant singing the praises of all involved in creating our dining experience.

A good restaurant is not just about the food, it’s about the experience and for me, The Riverside had it all..!! Despite living 1 and a half hours away, I would be sure to go back for more. A great restaurant with a great team!

I won’t mention in black and white your personal generosity but would thank you personally for all you did. You made a rowdy group very happy and I assure you we will be back in numbers and the word will spread as far and wide as we can possibly send it.

You deserve the awards and if you keep that level of service and quality of food you’re onto a winner. ‘Mega’ day!!

Most amazing thing was that pudding was SO light, I didn’t even know I’d had it……..!! Top feed.

Just a quick email to give you some feedback after our visit today.
We did speak to Andrew as we were leaving (thanks for making the time to chat with us) but wanted to re-iterate exactly how great we thought the food was.
We stumbled across the restaurant on the internet when we planned a visit to Barnard Castle last year and are so glad we did!

The meal we had that day was stunning, the restaurant itself is so atmospheric and ‘cosy’ that we didn’t want to leave!

We couldn’t get over the quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff and ultimately the size of the bill! We love the fact that Andrew comes out regularly and makes the time to chat with the customers, something not a lot of people would make the effort to do.
We decided that we would have to come back the next time were heading to Durham, so we booked in for Sunday lunch today. Yet again, the meal was fantastic and the staff made us feel like family! The seafood medley was absolutely beautiful, the flavours and presentation were second to none. My wife had the beef for a main, which was again stunning, we loved the fact it was cooked slightly pink yet fell apart when the fork touched it! As for the desserts, the Pavlova was divine, I hardly felt like I’d had a dessert and the chocolate tart had the most amazing hit of chocolate.

I’m no critic and we’re no chefs, but we know and love our food and we eat out regularly all around the country (and have eaten around the World for that matter) and we both agree that the Riverside is our favourite restaurant.

So please pass our thanks on to all the staff involved in making our visits so memorable. We will be back as often as we can, to be honest the 2.5 hour trip from Birmingham to the restaurant is worth every minute of it. We get the emails form you and our only regret is that we don’t live closer to take advantage of the offers and visit more often.

I will be in touch by phone as we are thinking of coming up to stay locally and come for Christmas dinner there this year.

We wish you continued success and good luck with the upcoming awards, as far as we are concerned you are already the best restaurant in the North East but it would be nice to see it recognised with an award.

We’ve been to your restaurant a couple of times as we are relatively new to the area and live about half an hours drive away. I would just like to mention how much we love going to the Riverside. The menu, food, service décor and atmosphere are faultless. The last time we ate there, we were still talking about it a few days later and I still smile when I think about the desert I had.

If you could pass my complements on to everyone involved, that would be nice as its not often we public get the chance to voice our opinion directly to those involved.

Your new web site looks lovely; very classy and a good idea to bombard customers with. It’s just a shame we cannot taste it.

We are writing to complement your restaurant and staff after a superb evening at your restaurant on the 13th Sept. We have to say, our friends and us haven’t enjoyed a meal as much as we did that night in a long time. The staff serving were extremely friendly and professional, it really made a difference and we would like you to inform them of this compliment. We’ve also taken great pleasure in telling our family and friends here in Barrow-in-Furness about the Riverside Restaurant.

Once again, many thanks for a great night, when we pass through Barney again, we will certainly book again.

Wonderful food, warm friendly atmosphere. Wish we’d discovered this place sooner – it’s always been one of those “must try that Restaurant one day” places. Well I’d say RUN, don’t walk and just try it once. I can guarantee you’ll be back. Halloumi with Chilli Noodles – YUM!!!

If this is not the best restaurant in the North East, The Chef can cook my hat and I’ll eat it! Although, if he did cook my hat, I’d probably eat it anyway – SUPERB!!
